About the position

The Product Manager Lead Consultant at Allstate Insurance plays a pivotal role in defining, delivering, and managing the lifecycle of one or more products within the company's expanding digital product portfolio. This position is integral to establishing a strategic product vision, conducting product discovery, and developing roadmaps and backlogs that maximize both customer satisfaction and enterprise value. The successful candidate will engage in product discovery techniques to validate assumptions and ensure that the products meet the evolving needs of customers. Collaboration with key stakeholders and partners is essential to effectively execute go-to-market strategies and communication plans for the products. In this role, the Product Manager Lead Consultant will contribute to the creation of product strategies, author and test user stories, and utilize customer feedback along with detailed market analysis to inform product decisions. The individual will define and manage metrics that measure the success of product initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall product strategy. A significant aspect of the role involves representing the voice of the customer, which requires spending considerable time understanding customer needs and behaviors. The consultant will also engage in discovery and test-and-learn activities to quickly validate product direction and assumptions. Additionally, the Product Manager Lead Consultant will assist in breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks, prioritizing the product backlog, and providing timely feedback to stakeholders on development iterations. This position requires a proactive approach to anticipating challenges and identifying opportunities, all while operating in a fast-paced environment driven by key performance indicators (KPIs). The role demands effective stakeholder management and transparent communication to ensure successful product outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute towards creating the product strategy for one or more products in our growing digital product portfolio.
  • Authors, tests, and accepts stories.
  • Use customer feedback, detailed market analysis, and data gathering to provide recommendations on decisions about product strategy.
  • Define and manage metrics to measure the success of your efforts and to inform the overall product strategy.
  • Represent the voice of the customer; invest significant time with current and potential customers to understand their needs and habits.
  • Engage in discovery/test & learn activities to quickly validate assumptions and product direction.
  • Provide input on decomposing complex problems into smaller manageable tasks by creating and prioritizing a backlog for the Product Team.
  • Assist with managing the product backlog, contribute towards creating an effective vision and provide timely stakeholder feedback on development iterations.

Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor's degree (Preferred)
  • 5 or more years of experience (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Entrepreneurial with a strong inclination towards action, preferably with experience in application and platform modernization.
  • Advanced ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to product development teams with proven experience in data-driven decision making.
  • Solid understanding of and experience working in a technology development environment.
  • Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you had the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals.
  • Ability to contribute towards data-driven decision making on complex and innovative concepts.
  • Ability to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience at breaking down work for iterative and incremental delivery.
  • Effective at stakeholder management and transparent communication.
