About the position

The Chaldean News is seeking a full-time Digital Projects Editor to enhance its digital presence and engage with the Chaldean community in Metro Detroit. This role involves content management, editing, and community engagement, with a focus on serving the audience's interests and needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong connection to the Chaldean heritage and a passion for community service.

Responsibilities

• Post content to CN website and social media platforms.
• Edit audio and video projects.
• Maintain a weekly e-newsletter and an online Chaldean community calendar.
• Monitor online performance results and adjust content to maximize engagement and value for the CN audience.
• Create quarterly reports to track progress.
• Assist with gathering, organizing and copy-editing CN content (monthly).
• Attend and help facilitate CN-sponsored events (approximately 3-4 per year).
• Attend weekly team meetings and monthly editorial board meetings.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or related field required.
• 2-5 years of related experience in editing and publishing.
• Knowledge of audio/video editing software and common applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based content posting tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of the Chaldean and/or Arabic languages is a plus.
• Experience in video editing.
