About the position

Pacific Opera Project (POP) is seeking a part-time Digital & Social Media Coordinator to enhance its online presence and engage with audiences through various digital platforms. This role is crucial for the organization as it aims to make opera accessible and appealing to a broader audience. The coordinator will be responsible for creating and managing content across social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram, as well as the organization's website. This position also involves crafting bulk email communications to keep followers informed and engaged with POP's activities. In addition to content creation, the Digital & Social Media Coordinator will serve as an in-house graphic designer, utilizing tools like Adobe Suite to produce print and digital assets such as programs, advertisements, and promotional materials. The successful candidate will work closely with POP's PR team to develop and implement strategic marketing campaigns that attract new followers, sell tickets, and build brand awareness. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical skills, and marketing acumen to effectively engage with the community and promote the organization's mission. The coordinator will also be involved in developing a comprehensive social media marketing plan in collaboration with the Founding Artistic Director and Executive Director. This includes managing reporting and analytics for all social channels and the website to assess engagement and effectiveness. The position requires attendance at rehearsals and performances to capture behind-the-scenes content, ensuring that the organization's social media presence is vibrant and engaging. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the opera and classical music scene in Los Angeles, along with a proven track record in digital marketing and graphic design.

Responsibilities

  • Design powerful and engaging social media content with on-brand imagery
  • Design other print and digital assets as needed (programs, flyers, season artwork, etc)
  • Design and write copy for e-blasts via Neon CRM on a regular basis
  • Execute email and social media cross-promotions with other organizations
  • Collaborate with POP's PR team on marketing campaigns, as needed
  • Create social media reels, content and ads for institutional & production marketing
  • Update and manage content for the POP website
  • In partnership with the Founding Artistic Director & Executive Director, map out a comprehensive social media marketing plan to engage followers and expand our audiences
  • Develop messaging to POP's desired constituencies to engage those audiences
  • Manage reporting and analytics for all social channels and website
  • Work with livestream team to promote events
  • Attend at least one rehearsal of each production to capture behind the scenes footage for email and social media
  • Be on site for all mainstage performances to capture and create real-time social media content
  • Attend weekly staff meetings over Zoom, with occasional in-person meetings

Requirements

  • Experience in digital marketing and social media management
  • Proficiency in graphic design using Adobe Suite or similar software
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of SEO and data analytics for web and social media
  • Understanding of paid digital advertising (Meta and Google)
  • Experience with Wix or similar web hosting platforms
  • Ability to create engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the opera, classical music, and performing arts scene in Los Angeles
  • Video production experience
  • Extensive experience building and maintaining a robust follower base

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $22 - $23 Hourly
