About the position

The Software Engineer 3 position at Focus on the Family is responsible for developing and managing the technical aspects of the organization's enterprise applications and digital properties. This role involves writing, testing, and releasing code, troubleshooting issues related to application security and performance, and maintaining best practices in software development. The position requires collaboration within a hybrid team environment and encompasses responsibilities across various areas including back-end, client-side, DevOps, mobile development, and testing, all within an Agile framework.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage technical aspects of enterprise applications and digital properties.
  • Write, test, and release code while troubleshooting application issues.
  • Create and maintain standards and best practices for software development.
  • Work collaboratively in a hybrid on-campus environment to enhance applications.
  • Build secure, performant, reusable, and maintainable code.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot code, applications, and integrations.
  • Create and utilize centralized Logging, Auditing, Monitoring, and Alerting (LAMA).
  • Execute and maintain various levels and types of testing, automating tests where possible.
  • Architect and implement security and performance reviews of digital properties.
  • Mentor other engineers and team members as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, or equivalent relevant education.
  • 5-7 years of overall software development experience.
  • Intermediate understanding of computer science principles including object-oriented programming and data modeling.
  • Intermediate understanding of Salesforce functionality and best practices.
  • Intermediate understanding of Cloud-based architectures and SaaS solutions.
  • Intermediate understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Apex, Lightning, Flutter, Dart, C#/.Net, PHP, Java, JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies like BDD or TDD.
  • Experience with source control systems, preferably Github.
