About the position

The Digital Specialist II (Web Designer/Developer) at the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing the digital presence of the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP). This full-time position involves overseeing both the front and back end of CHAMP's websites, implementing digital strategies, optimizing user experience, and ensuring compliance with web accessibility standards. The specialist will be responsible for developing SEO strategies, analyzing website performance metrics, and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve CHAMP's digital communication goals.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and update webpages on CHAMP websites and intranet using current best practices.
• Post content, including written, graphic, audio, and video, onto websites in a timely manner.
• Perform regular audits and troubleshooting to ensure current content and improve user experience.
• Liaise with subcontractors, internal team members, and stakeholders to centralize and streamline digital strategy and operations.
• Lead the development and implementation of CHAMP's digital strategy, identifying gaps in performance metrics and executing creative solutions.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging digital technologies to recommend new strategies and tools.
• Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings.
• Analyze website performance metrics and implement improvements based on data-driven insights.
• Contribute to the CHAMP catalog design and campaign materials database.
• Participate in required training for the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in web design and development.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic command of HTML & JavaScript for customizing template settings.
• Foundation in UX/UI development and integration.
• Experience with Figma or similar design tools.
• Proficiency in Google products, Adobe Acrobat, and Drupal.
• Working knowledge of Google Analytics (G4).
• Ability to work independently and identify deficiencies and resolutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for creating web graphics and short videos.
• Experience with search engine optimization implementation.
• Experience using Drupal or similar content management systems.
• Knowledge of 508 compliance guidelines.
• Understanding of military culture, education, nutrition, and social sciences/behavioral health.
