About the position

The Digital Strategies & Systems Librarian at Winthrop University is a tenure-track faculty position responsible for managing and optimizing the library and archives' information systems. This role involves serving as the technical lead for various platforms, including the Ex Libris Library Services Platform and the institutional repository. The librarian will collaborate with the Technical and Digital Initiatives team to enhance digital services and support the academic community through information literacy and reference services.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as administrator of the Shared Library Services Platform (SLSP) including Ex Libris Alma, Primo, and Open Athens.
  • Manages the library's website using Springshare LibGuides.
  • Oversees the Digital Commons repository and Springshare applications.
  • Collaborates with archives on repository projects and collections.
  • Teaches information literacy and participates in reference service rotations.
  • Participates in collection development serving as departmental liaison for select academic units.
  • Engages in scholarship and performs activities aligned with tenure and promotion.
  • Performs other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree.
  • Two years experience managing a Library Services Platform (LSP).
  • Experience with website development and management.
  • Experience with institutional repositories.
  • Excellent analytical, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Experience providing technical support and training.
  • Understanding of scholarly communication principles and practices.
  • Ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing needs and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a collegial team.
  • Experience teaching library instruction classes and providing reference services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Alma Administration Certification.
  • Experience working in a consortia environment with a shared LSP.
  • Direct experience with Ex Libris Alma and Primo, Open Athens.
  • Familiarity with the Springshare product suite.
  • An understanding of metadata tools and standards (RDA, Dublin Core, MARC).
