Our Digital Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for leading global deal negotiations with digital service providers on behalf of Warner Music Group. This role is pivotal in striking deals with global distribution platforms and finding new business opportunities to reach audiences, grow monetization, and create value for our labels and artists. As a Digital Strategy & Business Development Analytics Lead, you will support ongoing efforts to strike global deals across the music streaming landscape by leveraging your analytical skills and industry knowledge. The ideal candidate is passionate about understanding the intersection of music, technological innovation, and consumer behavior. In this position, you will serve as a central leader within the Business Development team, capable of supporting deal-making with strategic thought and synthesizing raw data into helpful insights and narratives for deal teams and senior management. You will be responsible for understanding, tracking, and synthesizing data received from partners, creating regular update presentations, tracking trends, and leading ad hoc analysis to support strategic initiatives and deal-making. Your experience in publishing data-based insights will be crucial in supporting strategic business decisions. You will collaborate and influence cross-functional teams, utilizing excellent communication skills to craft engaging narratives based on data. Additionally, you will work with external stakeholders such as DSP partners (e.g., Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Amazon) to use reporting to understand important trends and support decision-making across the global Business Development team. Conducting in-depth analysis of different segments of our business, leveraging industry data to identify trends and opportunities in the marketplace, will be a key part of your role. You will analyze partner data and create models to inform key decision-making, monitor emerging technologies, and develop new strategic initiatives focused on WMG's relationship with DSPs and diversification of WMG's revenue and capabilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in a similar Business Intelligence Analyst and Financial Analyst role in the music publishing or rights management space.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker), and other business intelligence technologies (e.g., Alteryx).
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets.
  • Proven record working in an analytical capacity with large data sets to create complex models around deal, partnership, and industry trend forecasting.
  • Music, media, or entertainment industry content licensing experience is preferred, as is experience with deal-driven analyses.
  • Strong spreadsheet and presentation skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
