About the position

The Digital Systems Specialist at Hershey Co. is responsible for providing technical support at the plant level, specifically for the Whitestown and Bethlehem plants. This role acts as the first responder to IT/OT issues related to digitally-integrated systems and serves as a liaison between the plant, Corporate IT functions, and Engineering. The specialist will coordinate support for end-user devices and ensure the implementation, testing, and support of IoT platforms and products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hardware and software support for Windows PCs, printers, virtual environments, network infrastructure, time clocks, barcode systems, phone systems, and paging systems.
  • Monitor and support IT infrastructure on-site, collaborating with corporate IT and plant staff to implement corporate-driven projects.
  • Facilitate communication to plant staff regarding IT projects and assist with Windows desktop/laptop installation and maintenance.
  • Support automation/controls software and licenses on technician PCs, and maintain plant OT infrastructure including virtual machines and networking.
  • Respond to user support needs related to PC software, hardware, printers, and plant applications such as PI, MES, EMS, and barcode systems.
  • Manage user access requests, training, and accounts, working closely with corporate IT Help Desk.
  • Administer data backup programs and ensure security and maintenance of local computer rooms and data closets.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in IT/OT support.
  • Proficient understanding of PCs and printers.
  • Proficient understanding of Windows operating systems (PC and server).
  • Understanding of virtual environments (virtual machines, VLANs, thin clients, etc.).
  • Understanding of network communications and security, including firewall configurations.
  • Base experience with automation and controls solutions including PLCs and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of programming languages, database concepts, and web design.

  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex IT issues.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize work based on business needs.
