About the position

The Digital Technologies Librarian plays a crucial role in enhancing the library's digital presence by identifying user needs and implementing technologies that support information literacy. This position involves maintaining the library's website, researching emerging technologies, and collaborating with library staff to create digital learning resources that improve accessibility and engagement for undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the library website to ensure it is up to date, responsive, and accessible for undergraduate students.
  • Implement, customize, and integrate web applications for the library website and related platforms such as LibGuides.
  • Conduct needs assessments, usability testing, and analytics to ensure library web technologies meet user needs and library objectives.
  • Collaborate with other librarians to design and create digital learning objects that enhance information literacy.
  • Contribute to and initiate special projects utilizing digital technologies to support library use.
  • Engage in self-directed learning and professional development to maintain technological proficiency and stay updated on trends in libraries and information literacy.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Facility with educational technologies.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with at least one scripting language.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining websites.
  • Experience working with content management systems, including WordPress and LibGuides.
  • Experience working with APIs.
  • Teaching or training experience.
