About the position

The Digital Video Evidence System (DVES)/Body Worn Camera Technician position is responsible for providing operational support for the Colorado State Patrol's body-worn camera and digital evidence video systems. This role involves technical support, equipment maintenance, training, and troubleshooting to ensure the effective operation of video recording systems used in law enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for DVES and body-worn cameras.
  • Maintain inventory of video/camera equipment including in-car systems and body-worn cameras.
  • Perform technical and administrative law enforcement work related to body-worn cameras.
  • Service and maintain the operation of DVES in patrol vehicles and body-worn cameras.
  • Operate and troubleshoot video equipment, diagnosing and repairing issues as needed.
  • Work directly with vendors for equipment support, returns, and replacements.
  • Provide training on camera systems to internal customers.
  • Travel to various locations to install and troubleshoot hardware/software.
  • Recommend technology and equipment updates.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time experience with audio, video, and/or digital media recording devices in software collection, review, and storage, or hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Associate's degree in any field and one year of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in any field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with law enforcement agencies.
  • Experience with car camera systems and/or body-worn cameras.
  • Previous experience in video and/or camera equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with video and/or camera software and/or hardware installation and maintenance.
  • Experience with evidence management software.
