About the position

The Digital Video Evidence System (DVES)/Body Worn Camera Technician position is responsible for providing technical and administrative support for the Colorado State Patrol's body-worn camera and digital evidence video systems. This role involves maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, training personnel, and ensuring the operational integrity of video systems used in law enforcement. The technician will work closely with various stakeholders to enhance public safety through effective use of technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for DVES and body-worn cameras.
• Maintain inventory of video/camera equipment including in-car systems and body-worn cameras.
• Perform technical and administrative law enforcement work related to BWC for CSP.
• Maintain and service the operation of DVES in patrol vehicles and BWC for CSP members.
• Operate and troubleshoot video equipment.
• Diagnose, repair, and/or replace in-car camera equipment and body-worn camera equipment.
• Work directly with vendors for support, equipment returns, and advanced replacements.
• Provide training on camera systems to internal customers.
• Travel to various office and troop locations to install and troubleshoot hardware/software.
• Recommend technology and equipment updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field.
• Three years of full-time experience with audio, video, and/or digital media recording devices in software collection, review, and storage, or hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Associate's degree from an accredited institution in any field and one year of relevant experience.
• Strong computer skills.
• Exceptional communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Law enforcement agency experience.
• Experience with car camera systems and/or body-worn cameras.
• Previous video and/or camera equipment maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with evidence management software.
