About the position

Food Services Inc. of Gainesville is seeking a dedicated and experienced Dining Facility Manager (DFAC Manager) to oversee the daily operations of our dining facility at Fort Gregg-Adams. The DFAC Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that our food service operations run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of service and compliance with all relevant regulations. This position requires a strong leader who can manage staff, budgets, and resources effectively while fostering a positive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in food service management, particularly in institutional settings, and will be committed to providing excellent customer service. As the DFAC Manager, you will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the dining facility, ensuring that all services are delivered in a timely and professional manner. You will oversee contract compliance and performance, coordinate with other dining facilities as needed, and maintain a close working relationship with customers, supervisors, and employees. Your role will also involve monitoring staff performance, conducting inspections of food and facility setups, and ensuring that all health and safety standards are met, including HACCP compliance. In addition to operational oversight, you will be responsible for budget management, including inventory control, equipment ordering, and labor costs. You will assist in the food ordering process and contribute to staff training and development. Regular performance reviews will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that all employees are meeting the standards expected in their roles. This position requires physical activity, including walking the facility, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing various tasks to ensure the facility operates effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the dining facility.
  • Ensure contract compliance and performance.
  • Coordinate cooperation and support between dining facilities.
  • Physically inspect all dining facilities on a scheduled basis.
  • Maintain budget controls for inventory, supplies, equipment ordering, and labor costs.
  • Assist in determining necessary staffing levels for smooth operations.
  • Monitor staff performance and conduct inspections of food and facility setups.
  • Contribute input for the food ordering process.
  • Assist in training all employees and provide performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience as a manager or assistant manager in a major culinary institution or large institutional food service operation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in managing food services, labor, budget, and resources.
  • Good management and customer service skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret government contracts and apply them appropriately.
  • ServSafe certification is required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business management, hospitality management, or equivalent is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in military food service operations.
  • Knowledge of HACCP standards.
