About the position
The Dining Services Assistant - Dishwasher position at Lake Prince Woods involves supporting the dining services team in a retirement community setting. The role focuses on meal preparation, cleaning, and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for food service operations. The assistant will work under the direction of the Director of Dining Services or Chef, contributing to the overall dining experience for residents.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals for residents as part of a team or independently.
- Return trays to clean-up areas and clear trays after meals.
- Load and tend to machines that clean food service items, hand washing as needed.
- Return clean dishes and utensils to their appropriate areas.
- Clean work areas, tables, cabinets, and food prep equipment.
- Store food and supplies as directed.
- Prepare and assemble food for regular and modified diets as directed.
- Follow safety, fire, and sanitation standards.
- Assist with food preparation, including salads and baked goods, using safe food handling techniques.
- Begin meal preparation under the direction of the Cook or Dining Services Manager.
- Perform perception and color discrimination to detect food quality.
- Handle inventory and stocking of food items for meal preparation.
- Perform general cleaning of dietary/kitchen/serving areas, including sweeping and mopping.
- Comply with all regulations and surveys regarding food service operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months of food service/kitchen experience in a hospital, institutional, or restaurant setting preferred.
- Experience in long-term care or healthcare preferred.
- Valid Food Handlers Card.
