About the position

The Dining Services Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service within the community, ensuring high standards of food preparation, staff management, and compliance with health regulations. This role involves hiring, training, and supervising staff, maintaining cleanliness in food service areas, and developing menus that cater to the dietary needs of residents. The position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service to residents and staff alike.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of food service for the community.
• Hire, train, and evaluate dining services staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and storage areas.
• Ensure compliance with health laws and regulations.
• Prepare and serve meals to residents, employees, and guests.
• Develop monthly menus suitable for residents' dietary needs.
• Ensure meals are served on schedule and maintain proper sanitation standards.
• Order raw food, supplies, and equipment through approved vendors.
• Maintain quality standards and stay within budget for food, supplies, and labor hours.
• Conduct monthly food committee meetings with resident representatives.

Requirements

• Possess a Food Service Manager Certificate and/or meet regulatory requirements for Food Service Manager.
• Working knowledge of ordering, storing, preparation, and serving in a food service environment, preferably in senior care.
• High school graduate.
• Experience in dining services with management/leadership experience.
• ServSafe Certified.
• Strong customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Good leadership and supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of nutritional needs of assisted living residents.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and carry heavy objects up to 20 feet.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in senior care food service environments.
• Additional certifications in food safety or nutrition.
