About the position

The Dining Services Director at Sunrise Senior Living is responsible for overseeing the dining and hospitality operations within the community, ensuring high-quality food service and customer satisfaction. This role involves managing food preparation, dietary modifications, financial and budgetary management, and team leadership, while adhering to health and safety regulations. The position requires collaboration with residents, families, and staff to create a welcoming dining experience that meets the nutritional needs of residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service and leadership in dining and hospitality operations.
  • Manage food preparation and service in accordance with Sunrise culinary programs.
  • Ensure accurate delivery of dietary modifications and compliance with health regulations.
  • Oversee procurement, financial management, and budget adherence for the dining services.
  • Hire, supervise, and train team members, ensuring proper sanitation and food handling practices.
  • Communicate with residents and families to ensure high levels of satisfaction with dining services.
  • Participate in monthly Resident Council Meetings to gather feedback on menu and service.
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food service management, culinary degree, or equivalent training.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in hospitality or fine dining industries.
  • Current ServSafe certification.
  • Proven ability to manage food and labor budgets effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in volume cooking and ability to cook multiple times per week.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and modified diets.
  • Experience in leading and training teams in a hospitality setting.
