About the position

The Dining Services Director at Cedarhurst of Jacksonville is responsible for overseeing the culinary program within the community, ensuring high-quality dining services for residents. This role involves managing a team, maintaining food inventories, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards, all while positively impacting the lives of seniors through exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise 10-15 employees in the day-to-day presentation of dining services for seniors.
  • Schedule staff and provide coverage when necessary.
  • Maintain communication with vendors, community leadership, and the regional dining services team.
  • Support catering, room service, and special party needs.
  • Maintain, order, and account for food inventories while keeping costs within budget.
  • Instruct employees on kitchen equipment operation, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Provide hands-on training to staff on food service positions.
  • Create easy-to-follow recipes for dietary staff.
  • Handle food safely and appropriately.
  • Recruit, orient, and hire new dining service staff.
  • Assist the Executive Director with monthly staff meetings and committees.
  • Participate in sales and marketing procedures to enhance resident satisfaction.
  • Manage company credit card and file receipts timely.
  • Ensure proper food temperatures and equipment functionality.
  • Utilize basic math concepts for practical situations.
  • Maintain safety standards for infection control and food safety licensing requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication with residents' families regarding care and wellbeing.
  • Engage in conflict intervention and resolution as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with culinary training or 3-5 years of culinary experience.
  • Applicable state/county licensure required.
  • Food Manager Certification required.
  • CPR or BLS certification preferred.
  • Previous staff management and/or coaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in a senior living community preferred.
