About the position

The Corporate Accounting Manager will oversee and manage the Corporate Accounting function across the enterprise, ensuring adherence to corporate accounting policies and accepted standard practices. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial reporting and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The manager will be responsible for establishing accounting policies across the enterprise and ensuring that all subsidiaries comply with these standards. This includes conducting accounting reviews of key subsidiaries and providing direction and guidance as needed to ensure that the accounting function operates smoothly and efficiently. In addition to overseeing the accounting function, the Corporate Accounting Manager will support new business initiatives, system integrations, and other major change management processes that impact accounting and systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential challenges that may arise during these transitions. The manager will also play a key role in developing and mentoring staff, focusing on onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities, and performance management processes. Building and maintaining employee morale and motivation is essential, as is ensuring that the team is appropriately staffed with the required competencies to meet current and future departmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the company's accounting function and accounting team ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Establish accounting policies across the enterprise and ensure adherence.
  • Conduct accounting reviews of key subsidiaries.
  • Provide direction and guidance as needed.
  • Support new business initiatives, system integrations, and other major change management impacting accounting and systems.
  • Develop and mentor staff through onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities, and performance management processes.
  • Build and maintain employee morale and motivation.
  • Ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies.
  • Determine resources needed to meet current and future needs of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 7 years of accounting experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.
  • Advanced knowledge level of accounting practices and systems.
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (e.g., using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page, and/or creating a pivot table).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA, CGMA, or CMA certification.
  • MBA.
  • Experience with SAP, AS400, Tagetik, and QAD systems.
  • Financial Consolidations / Foreign Currency experience.
  • Experience leading Change Management.
  • Experience leading Projects.
