About the position

The Director of Business Operations at the Georgia Department of Corrections is responsible for overseeing a diverse range of support, operational, and programmatic activities within Georgia Correctional Industries. This role involves providing leadership to subordinate managers and staff, managing human resources, and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies. The Director will also be involved in strategic planning, budget management, and the development of programs that align with the agency's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a diverse range of support, operational, and programmatic activities for the department.
  • Recommend and implement policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership to subordinate managers and staff.
  • Manage human resources and direct administrative activities.
  • Conduct or participate in the development, review, revision, interpretation, and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Coordinate compliance with rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy of all functions through the use of computer systems and management controls.
  • Oversee the development and ongoing management of programs or projects consistent with agency goals and objectives.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, development, and implementation of long-range goals and objectives.
  • Plan, administer, and control the budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Six years of experience managing professional level staff or ten years of related professional experience with six years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various product categories and supply chains that support business sales.
  • Minimum of five years of validated experience successfully leading multiple project teams in new product development and deployment.
  • Demonstrated success in increasing revenue with new and existing product lines.
  • Experience in multiple areas of financial management including Budget, Purchasing, Accounting, and Contract Management.
  • Experience in business process improvement and expense management.
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in monitoring employee performance and implementing process improvements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated skills in the interpretation of State or industry regulations and policies.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in researching issues, answering inquiries, and resolving problems.
