About the position

The Director of Corporate Citizenship & Crisis Communications at NiSource is responsible for enhancing the company's reputation through strategic community engagement and effective crisis communication. This role involves overseeing risk management, supporting the NiSource Foundation, and leading initiatives that align with the company's values while fostering relationships within the communities served. The Director will also manage a team and develop proactive strategies to mitigate risks and enhance brand awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop proactive reputation management strategies to elevate brand awareness and reputation.
  • Oversee risk management and crisis communication planning.
  • Support the NiSource Foundation in its community engagement efforts.
  • Manage content for various communication platforms including press releases and social media.
  • Lead the company's citizenship communication efforts, including the development of annual reports.
  • Create compelling content, campaigns, events, and initiatives to enhance brand image.
  • Identify volunteer project options for teams by contacting local organizations.
  • Lead and manage a diverse team, including hiring and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in communications with proven results across internal and external channels.
  • 1-3 years of experience leading philanthropic or corporate citizenship strategies.
  • 4-6 years of experience in the utilities industry.
  • Strong understanding of crisis communications and media relations.

  • 12+ years of experience in communications.
