About the position

The Senior Director of Credit Risk/Underwriting at Home Depot is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the development and management of THD's Trade Credit Program. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial services, particularly in credit card product management, credit analytics, and P&L oversight. The Senior Director will be tasked with outlining a strategic staffing plan for the Trade Credit Team, implementing Trade Credit policies, and optimizing team efficiency. Additionally, the role involves oversight of credit risk policies for THD's proprietary credit programs, including Consumer and Commercial Credit, Project Financing, and alternative loan programs. A thorough understanding of a risk appetite framework is essential, as the Senior Director will need to assess how policy modifications impact outcomes. The position requires balancing risk and losses with sales generation activities, overseeing decision-making on THD's line accommodation program, and optimizing portfolio performance to minimize charge-offs while maximizing sales. The Senior Director will also be responsible for detailed tracking and analysis of customer accounts throughout their lifecycle and evaluating accounts for other THD credit programs, including Trade Credit. In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Director will contribute strategically to the direction and optimization of THD's credit programs, providing input into new initiatives and capabilities. The role demands an understanding of how policy changes can affect customer experience, ensuring that changes align with the strategic direction of the team and the company. Leadership is a key component of this position, as the Senior Director will guide and support a large team focused on balancing customer purchasing decisions with the risks of potential bad debt. Collaboration with various internal groups at THD is crucial for advancing individual growth and capabilities, as well as establishing strong relationships with business partners who rely on the team for decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the development and management of THD's Trade Credit Program.

Requirements

  • Broad financial services experience including credit card product management and/or issuance.
  • Experience in credit analytics (marketing/direct marketing, lifecycle management).
  • P&L oversight experience.
  • Experience in new program development.
  • Enterprise-level negotiation skills with vendors.
  • Knowledge of payments, including cost out, network relationships, and negotiations with payment processors.

  • Experience with underwriting and credit portfolios.
