About the position

The Director of Dining Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a dining account, ensuring high-quality food service and exceptional hospitality. This role involves managing a team, maintaining client relations, and driving financial performance while fostering a positive work environment. The Director will implement culinary strategies, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with health regulations, all while enhancing resident satisfaction and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent relationships with customers, guests, and clients as well as other departments.
  • Work with the Chef and management team in creating menus and providing top-quality food.
  • Oversee all P&L and budgeting as it pertains to the account.
  • Roll out new culinary programs.
  • Develop and implement overall operating strategy aligned with Compass Community Living and client business strategy.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure compliance with health regulations and company standards.
  • Direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs.
  • Lead pre-meal briefings and staff meetings to ensure ongoing communication in food and beverage areas.
  • Review resident satisfaction results and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create a positive work environment and establish performance goals for the team.

Requirements

  • BS in Hospitality or Culinary degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of foodservice operation experience.
  • High volume production and catering experience is essential.
  • Previous experience managing a budget.
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills.
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and email.
  • ServSafe® Certified.

Nice-to-haves

  • B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus four years of directly related experience preferred.
  • Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
