About the position

The Director of Enterprise & Data Architecture (E&DA) at Spark Therapeutics is responsible for leading the development of the enterprise and data architecture strategy, aligning it with the company's business objectives. This role involves creating a comprehensive technology roadmap, establishing standards and guidelines for application implementation, and optimizing data architecture across complex ecosystems. The Director will collaborate with business and technology groups to ensure that solutions align with Spark's mission and vision, while also overseeing the governance of enterprise and data architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the enterprise and data architecture strategy and technology roadmap.
  • Facilitate interaction with business leaders to ensure IT decisions align with enterprise impact.
  • Provide consultative advice to stakeholders for actionable investment recommendations.
  • Manage relationships with strategic vendors to align their strategies with Spark's objectives.
  • Develop and present integrated IT roadmaps reflecting the current IT landscape and future capabilities.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of IT and data architectures to enhance technology use.
  • Establish a vendor architecture review process for alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop policies, standards, and guidelines for consistent architecture application.
  • Collaborate with teams to analyze business drivers and derive architecture requirements.
  • Drive improvements in data layer performance, availability, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in leadership roles in large-scale business systems transformation projects.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise, data, and/or solution architecture.
  • Broad understanding of the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise and Data Architecture standards and frameworks, such as TOGAF.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with information management practices and IT services management.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and technologies like Azure, Google, and AWS.
  • Knowledge of container strategies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with Big Data Analytics and Data Architecture & Modeling tools.
