About the position

The Director of Legal Counsel-Operations at Spectrum is responsible for providing in-house legal advice and guidance, focusing on commercial and government sales contracts. This role involves negotiating contracts, advising internal stakeholders, managing legal risks, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and handling legal disputes. The position requires collaboration with various teams to align legal strategies with the organization's business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate commercial and government sales contracts, including Master Service Agreements and Non-Disclosure Agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to internal management and sales teams.
  • Draft and revise contract templates and other legal documents for continuous improvement.
  • Research and analyze relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to ensure appropriate risk management.
  • Manage outside counsel on customer-related issues requiring subject matter expertise.
  • Support and guide contract managers within the legal team.
  • Perform other legal duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably with a large law firm and/or in-house work.
  • Juris Doctor degree from a top-tier law school.
  • Active State Bar Membership in good standing, with the ability to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Proactive with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team setting.
  • Elevated leadership skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience with complex commercial negotiations in a commercial and/or government setting.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communication skills with various deal participants.
