The hospital is equipped with advanced specialty services, including open heart surgery and neurosurgery, and is recognized for its certified trauma care, establishing TMC as a regional specialty center. The Director of Risk Management plays a crucial role in safeguarding the hospital's assets from potential losses. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities aimed at minimizing and eliminating exposure to risks. The Director will implement the Risk Management Plan and Patient Safety Program, which includes monitoring, analysis, reporting, and conducting investigations related to risk management. The role also involves educating staff, facilitating regulatory and accreditation activities, and leading performance improvement initiatives. As a leader, the Director will guide others in the organization on safety and risk mitigation strategies related to healthcare errors and unintended adverse patient outcomes. In this leadership position, the Director will be expected to collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential risks and implementing effective strategies to mitigate them, thereby enhancing the overall safety and quality of care provided at Texoma Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Protect the hospital's assets from loss through various loss control efforts.
  • Advise administration on potential sources of loss and recommend strategies to minimize exposure.
  • Implement and manage the Risk Management Plan and Patient Safety Program.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on risk management activities.
  • Conduct investigations related to risk management issues.
  • Educate staff on safety and risk mitigation practices.
  • Facilitate regulatory and accreditation activities.
  • Lead performance improvement task forces, teams, and committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced certification in Risk Management is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant healthcare experience.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated competence in Risk Management.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of CMS, COP, TDHHS Hospital Licensing, OSHA, EMTALA, FDA, and current risk management issues.
  • Familiarity with MIDAS or similar risk management systems.
  • Basic understanding of the civil/tort legal process.
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize, and problem-solve.
