About the position

The Director at The Queen's Health Systems (QHS) plays a pivotal role in providing leadership and direction for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that align with the organization's mission. This position requires a high level of accountability, as the Director is responsible for ensuring the ongoing operations of QHS while anticipating potential problems and seeking effective solutions. The Director is expected to facilitate interactions among various organizational departments, promoting teamwork and collaboration to achieve results. Reporting to an executive, the Director is accountable for the functions and activities within the organization and may also support operations at other QHS entities or affiliated organizations. This role significantly contributes to the quality of patient care and service, functioning as an organizational leader accountable to the System Leadership Council. The Director also recognizes and supports the unique heritage and mission established by the founders, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV. In terms of specific responsibilities, the Director is tasked with developing and directing complex sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing contract relationships to ensure they are fiscally sound for the organization. The Director is also responsible for finding innovative solutions that deliver cost efficiencies and create enhanced value for the organization. This role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Anticipate problems and seek solutions to ensure ongoing operations of QHS.
  • Facilitate interactions among organizational departments and promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Accountable for functions and activities within the organization and support operations at other QHS entities.
  • Contribute to patient care quality and service as an organizational leader.
  • Develop and direct complex sourcing strategies and manage supplier relationships.
  • Optimize contract relationships to ensure fiscal soundness for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a specified field or in business administration, health care, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in business administration, health care administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Five years of management/leadership experience in procurement, preferably in a comparable hospital.
  • Solid understanding of business principles, including strategic and financial planning, budgeting, and organization theory.
  • Proven leadership skills, including planning, communication, motivation, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
  • Track record of managing multiple departments/functions, preferably in a comparable health care setting.
