About the position
The Direct Care Aide (DCA) position involves providing compassionate and personalized care to residents in supportive care areas. The role emphasizes a low staff-to-resident ratio, allowing for more individualized attention. Training is provided for those without prior experience, making it accessible for individuals who are eager to work with the elderly.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Encourage residents to maintain independence as much as possible.
- Keep accurate records of care and complete all required documentation.
- Report any changes in resident's condition to the Supervisor in Charge immediately.
- Monitor vital signs as needed or directed by regulations or care provider's orders.
- Apply safety and emergency procedures to protect residents.
- Perform CPR upon successful completion of certification.
- Understand residents' backgrounds and preferences while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist residents during meal times and promote a positive dining experience.
- Respond promptly to emergency call signals and report incidents professionally.
- Maintain cleanliness in resident rooms and common areas, and ensure equipment is safe and clean.
