About the position

We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Care Workers. As a Direct Care Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to individuals with various needs, including those with autism, in a group home setting. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while gaining valuable experience in the healthcare and social work field. You will be responsible for assisting individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as supporting individuals in medication administration as per prescribed guidelines. Additionally, you will implement behavior management techniques to promote positive interactions and engage individuals in social activities, providing companionship. Light housekeeping duties will also be part of your responsibilities to maintain a clean and safe environment, and you may be required to provide physical assistance, including heavy lifting when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Support individuals in medication administration as per prescribed guidelines
• Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive interactions
• Engage individuals in social activities and provide companionship
• Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment
• Provide physical assistance including heavy lifting when necessary

Requirements

• Experience working with individuals with autism, behavior challenges, or similar populations is preferred
• Knowledge of foster home/group home environments and practices
• Ability to perform tasks related to ADLs and medication administration
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with individuals and their families
• Understanding of behavior management techniques
• Physical ability to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with at-risk youth: 1 year (Preferred)
• Direct care worker: 1 year (Required)
