About the position

The Data Governance Analyst will oversee the implementation and management of the Microsoft Purview application, ensuring effective data governance across various sources. This role involves managing data from Microsoft 365 applications and other sources, focusing on public health topics. The analyst will be responsible for data cataloging, classification, compliance, and providing insights to enhance decision-making. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with various departments to ensure data requests are processed accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation and management of the Microsoft Purview application.
• Manage data/files from Microsoft 365 applications and other sources.
• Implement and oversee electronic searches using eDiscovery platforms.
• Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.
• Apply labels and tags based on data sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
• Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.
• Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.
• Ensure all data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Coordinate with departments to retrieve requested data and compile documents for disclosure.
• Work with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies and guidelines related to data management.
• Ensure policies align with federal and state data laws and organizational objectives.
• Develop training materials and conduct sessions for agency staff on data governance policies and procedures.

Requirements

• 6 years of experience with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• 5 years of experience in software troubleshooting and data lake management.
• 3 years of experience with data governance and data classification.
• 4 years of experience with SharePoint and Intune.
• Experience with HIPAA compliance and data protection laws.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Java programming.
• Familiarity with eDiscovery Premium and Standard platforms.
