About the position

As a Salesforce Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for providing technical oversight for all new and existing SaaS (Salesforce) implementations for the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, State of Michigan. This role requires a deep understanding of Salesforce architecture and the ability to guide technical decisions that align with the client's long-term strategy. You will participate in vendor solution design sessions, offering design guidance in areas such as extensions/modifications, data conversion, environment provisioning, and application integration. Your expertise will ensure that the vendor solution is efficient, cost-effective, and easily maintainable for the State of Michigan (SOM). In this position, you will work closely with customers and end users to define technical requirements for new projects and future enhancements. Leading technical workshops and design sessions with the customer will be a key responsibility, where you will propose and articulate design and architecture options, weighing their pros and cons. You will ensure that technical requirements align with established customer requirements and performance goals, maintaining consistency with the client's long-term strategy. Your role will also involve reviewing technical architecture deliverables throughout development to ensure quality and requirements traceability. You will have overall technical responsibility for the project's environments, compiling internal development guidelines and standards for the development team, and ensuring adherence to those standards. Oversight on quality assurance efforts will be crucial to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards. Additionally, you will ensure that proposed solutions adhere to SOM security guidelines and standards throughout the application lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of delivering business value through technology, with the ability to communicate strategic technical concepts at an executive level. You will provide technical leadership, including coaching and mentoring, and setting best practices for integration and application development, deployment, testing, and iterative refinement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in vendor solution design sessions for client projects providing design guidance in areas such as extensions/modifications, data conversion, environment provisioning, and application integration.
  • Work with the customer and end users to define technical requirements for new projects and any future enhancements.
  • Lead technical workshops and design sessions with the customer.
  • Propose and articulate design/architecture options with pros and cons.
  • Ensure that technical requirements tie back to established customer requirements and performance goals.
  • Review technical architecture deliverables throughout development to ensure quality and requirements traceability.
  • Compile internal development guidelines/standards for the development team and ensure adherence to those standards.
  • Provide oversight on QA efforts to ensure adherence to quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure proposed solutions adhere to SOM security guidelines and standards throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Deliver business value by leveraging technology and communicate strategic technical concepts at an executive level.
  • Provide technical leadership, including coaching and mentoring, and setting best practices for integration and application development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of working experience on Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.
  • 2+ years of experience with Public Sector Foundation for licensing/permitting.
  • Experience in a minimum of two full Salesforce.com lifecycle implementations.
  • In-depth understanding of the capabilities and constraints of Salesforce.
  • Custom development experience using advanced structured programming (APEX, Force.com, Java), Salesforce Flow Builder, Visual Flow Pages, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL.
  • Experience with migrating from Workflow rules/Process builder to Flow builder.
  • Demonstrated successful implementation of Batch Apex, Apex triggers, and classes.
  • Understanding of web services, REST services, and other technologies for data transport in an enterprise environment.
  • Ownership of all end-to-end technical aspects of a Salesforce.com program, including data modeling, data migrations, data quality, systems integrations, and 3rd party applications.
