About the position

The Traveling UAS (Drone) Pilot position involves nationwide travel to conduct visual inspections of powerlines using drones. This role offers the opportunity to gain cutting-edge experience in a tech-driven environment while working independently and as part of a team. Candidates must be adaptable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn, as they will be responsible for operating drones and ensuring the quality of collected data.

Responsibilities

• Travel nationwide to conduct manual flights for powerline and utility visual inspections using drones (UAS).
• Capture high-quality drone images for critical infrastructure and environmental safety.
• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight operations, including airspace coordination, equipment assembly and tear-down, and hazard mitigation.
• Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of supporting equipment including a 4x4 truck, computer workstation, on-board inverters, and batteries.
• Serve as a point of contact with clients regarding project scope, scheduling needs, deliverables, and follow-up.
• Perform quality checks on collected data to ensure accuracy and meet the client's needs.

Requirements

• Must have a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License (REQUIRED).
• Strong ability to learn and master multiple software packages, data collection platforms, and associated workflows.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Applied knowledge of surveying references such as coordinates systems, projections, datums, and geoids.
• Experience in land development, mining, solid waste, or similar industries.
