About the position

The Direct Materials Category Manager for Electrical, Electronics, and/or Mechanical at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies is responsible for leading the strategic development and management of key supply categories. This role focuses on enhancing procurement practices, driving global strategies, and ensuring the delivery of top-quality products and services at competitive prices. The position plays a pivotal role in supporting the company's global manufacturing network and contributes significantly to its success.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term category strategies for critical direct materials.
• Prepare RFx, analyze proposals, and lead cross-functional supplier selections.
• Plan and execute supplier negotiations around pricing and business terms.
• Cultivate expert-level knowledge of category trends and market dynamics.
• Drive alternate sourcing, supplier consolidation, and localization for cost savings.
• Manage category performance improvements including lead time and inventory levels.
• Prepare business cases and present cost savings proposals for approval.
• Negotiate business terms with key suppliers and develop negotiation strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or operations field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role at a global manufacturing company.
• Experience with electrical, electronics, and/or mechanical categories preferred.
• Experience in managing supply chains in high-mix and low-volume environments.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, preferably SAP, and Power BI.
• Strong supplier relationship management and contract negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master of Engineering or MBA degree preferred.
• PMP certification preferred.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) preferred.
