About the position

The Direct Procurement Specialist at Scout Motors is responsible for leading the sourcing strategy and procurement processes for metal commodities. This role involves collaborating with various teams to identify suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance to ensure that project requirements are met in terms of cost, quality, and delivery. The position plays a crucial role in supporting the company's mission to revolutionize the electric vehicle market by ensuring the right materials and services are sourced effectively.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate suppliers for parts and services, including conducting pre-sourcing audits.
• Establish sourcing strategies and business plans for assigned commodities and product groups.
• Lead the sourcing process and contract award for metal commodity purchasing.
• Prepare and execute negotiated contractual documents and nomination agreements.
• Act as program manager during the pre-production phase to ensure project requirements are met.
• Evaluate and apply technical changes to parts/services to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
• Lead cross-functional evaluations of suppliers' readiness for mass production.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in a purchasing environment with a focus on procurement commodity strategies.
• Effective negotiation experience specific to automotive metal commodity purchasing.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Thorough knowledge of automotive, manufacturing, or related industries.
• Proven ability to develop and nurture excellent stakeholder and supplier relationships.
• Experience in program management and managing supplier performance.
• Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
• Proactive and able to work across multiple workstreams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in electric vehicle or sustainable transportation sectors.
• Familiarity with digital procurement tools and technologies.
