About the position

The Direct Service Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing care to clients with neurological injuries, impairments, functional limitations, and/or disabilities. This role involves following established care plans to assist clients in their daily living activities in both residential and community settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care needs in accordance with the care plan and qualifications.
  • Complete health checks, documentation, and communicate effectively and timely to program leadership.
  • Contribute to the development of care plans for clients.
  • Oversee and participate in prescribed rehabilitation exercises.
  • Work collaboratively with all team members and leadership.
  • Assist clients with light housekeeping, laundry, and linen change.
  • Assist clients with bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, lifting, and transferring.
  • Provide transportation to clients as required, including appointments, shopping, and community outings.
  • Follow all medication procedures as established in the care plan, ensuring proper dispensing and dosages.
  • Assist with reporting, charting, and other administrative/clerical tasks.
  • Oversee any required rehabilitation exercises.
  • Assist in maintaining all necessary supplies for client needs.
  • Run errands as needed, such as grocery shopping and pharmacy visits.
  • Complete all required trainings and attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Ensure health and safety of the clients.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Administrator/Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a favorable driving record.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Six months to one year of experience in direct care, caregiving, medical assisting, and/or CNA experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
