About the position
The Direct Support Life Skills Trainer at Sevita plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals with brain, spinal cord, and medically complex injuries. This position involves providing training, assistance, and supervision to clients in various life skills and therapeutic activities, ensuring they receive the support needed for daily living and community involvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide training, assistance, and supervision to individuals receiving care in living skills and therapeutic recreation.
- Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, shopping, cleaning, and medication administration.
- Facilitate working relationships between employers and individuals served, supporting community involvement through outings and transportation.
- Work closely with clinical staff to support therapeutic and behavioral plans.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six months to one year of experience in the human services field.
- Valid Driver's License from state of residence.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Successful clearance of background checks.
- A caring attitude with a dedication to assisting others.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication skills.
