About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at New Horizons in Autism, Inc. (NHIA) involves providing essential care and supervision for individuals with autism in a residential home setting. This part-time position focuses on assisting residents with personal care, medication management, life skills, and daily structure, ensuring a supportive environment for individuals with autism. The role requires compassion, reliability, and effective communication skills to enhance the quality of life for the residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision for individuals with autism in a residential home setting.
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the group home.
• Support residents with personal care and medication management.
• Help residents develop life skills and provide daily structure and support.
• Communicate effectively with individuals with autism and their families.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED/Higher Degree (must provide diploma or transcripts).
• Must be at least 20 years old.
• A valid NJ driver's license.
• Ability to pass all background checks, including Central Registry, CARI, DMV, Fingerprints, Drug Screen, Physical, and PPD.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interact appropriately with persons with autism.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with individuals with autism or in a caregiving role.
• Certification in CPR or First Aid.
