About the position

Alternatives, Inc. is seeking a part-time overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver to provide support to adults with developmental disabilities. This role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting them with daily living activities and promoting their independence and integration into the community. The position offers a competitive hourly wage and the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist adults with developmental disabilities in daily living activities such as administering medication, cooking meals, and personal hygiene.
• Provide transportation to medical appointments and community outings.
• Implement individual behavioral plans and teach new skills using effective mentoring techniques.
• Encourage client participation in recreational activities and community integration.
• Maintain accurate documentation and report any health and safety concerns.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen.
• Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening.
• Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training.
• Basic computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
• Compassionate nature and strong communication skills.
