About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at CareSense Living involves providing essential support and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position is available in full-time, part-time, and as-needed capacities, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for clients through personalized care and support. The DSP will work closely with individuals to help them develop social skills, achieve personal goals, and maintain independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 services/supports to individuals
• Assist individuals with developing social skills and independence skills
• Support individuals in reaching personal goals
• Transport individuals to medical appointments, personal shopping, and recreational activities
• Cultivate safe and supportive relationships via natural supports
• Coach individuals in identifying and facilitating volunteer opportunities or paid employment
• Complete necessary training based on the individual's needs
• Accurately complete all in-house documentation and reports of individuals' progress

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 6 months of home health experience required
• Current CPR certification (will train)
• Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray and physical required to start
• Background check required to start
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required
• Med Trained a plus
