Quality Connections Living Services Inc. is seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) or Personal Assistants to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in Orange County, CA. This role is ideal for motivated candidates pursuing careers in mental health, sociology, social work, or developmental disabilities. The DSP will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting them with daily activities and providing companionship. The position offers flexible scheduling options, including weekdays and weekends, with shifts available from 8 AM to 3 PM and 3 PM to 8 PM. As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for assisting clients with ambulation and mobility, managing medications, planning and preparing meals, and performing light housekeeping duties. You will also accompany clients on shopping trips and provide companionship, ensuring they feel supported and valued. In addition to these responsibilities, you will be expected to report any unusual incidents and act quickly in emergency situations. This role requires a strong commitment to health and safety standards, as well as the ability to develop rapport and trust with clients. Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor's appointments, walks, etc.)
  • Medication management
  • Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients
  • Do the client's shopping or accompany them when they shop
  • Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can't complete on their own
  • Be a pleasant and supportive companion
  • Report any unusual incidents
  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a caregiver
  • Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR)
  • Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
  • Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
  • Respectful and compassionate demeanor
  • Good time management skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ethics
  • Physical endurance
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license, a vehicle with current registration & insurance
  • Criminal Background Clearance and an acceptable driving history
  • Physician's clearance and a TB test clearance
