About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) at The Society is responsible for providing daily care and assistance to individuals as outlined in their Individual Support Plans. This role focuses on promoting independence, ensuring safety, and supporting community integration for individuals with disabilities. The DSP engages in collaborative interactions, advocates for individuals' rights, and maintains documentation as required by agency policies and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
• Promote independence in domestic tasks such as cleaning and home chores
• Ensure safety and security for healthy living
• Maintain environmental cleanliness
• Assist with personal care
• Provide transportation as needed
• Support community living and integration
• Uphold individuals' rights
• Engage in positive, collaborative communication with individuals and team members
• Document and report health, safety, and wellbeing of individuals as per agency policy
• Perform medication administration and health-related activities as required
• Demonstrate punctuality and dependability
• Represent The Society with a professional attitude
• Adhere to The Society's policies and act as a role model

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Effective communication skills in English (spoken and written)
• Certification in Medication Administration and Health Related Activities
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Valid Ohio Driver's License with a good driving record
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
