About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Inspiritus Inc. is a part-time position focused on providing essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The DSP empowers clients by assisting them with daily needs, promoting their independence, and ensuring their health and safety. This role requires a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate and build relationships with clients and their families, while also adhering to a person-centered approach in service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home assistance with personal care needs including grooming, dressing, bathing, and nutrition.
  • Safely transport and accompany individuals to appointments and social activities.
  • Encourage relationship building and choice-making among individuals.
  • Support and implement a person-centered plan tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide assistance and training to help individuals achieve their goals.
  • Ensure client safety and maintain a safe home environment.
  • Respect and support individuals' religious, cultural, and personal differences.
  • Communicate respectfully with individuals and their support networks.
  • Complete required documentation accurately for service delivery.
  • Monitor individuals' health and well-being, documenting concerns for the Case Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Georgia driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Dependable vehicle and FBI criminal background clearance.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to complete behavior support training.
  • Professional communication skills with clients and families.
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates degree or higher in psychology, sociology, or special education.
  • Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities.
  • Experience with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD).
  • 1 year or more of caregiving experience.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Personal Care Aide (PCA), or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification.
