About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Redwood Family Care Network involves assisting adults with developmental disabilities in their daily lives. This part-time position focuses on providing person-centered care, ensuring the health and safety of individuals, and promoting positive life experiences through various activities. The DSP will work closely with clients to support their dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs, while also engaging them in meaningful activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist adults with developmental disabilities in their daily lives.
• Provide complete care for dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs.
• Redirect behaviors through activities such as walking, reading, games, math, and computer projects.
• Outline and prepare daily routines for clients as per their Individual Program Plan.
• Assist clients with bathroom needs and change undergarments/clothing if necessary.
• Prepare daily meals and assist with clean-up.
• Pick-up/drop-off clients in company vans from/to their home/facility if necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• CPI certification required.
• Must have DSP 1 certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illnesses preferred.
• Valid in-state driver's license required, must be over 21, and have a driving record with no more than 2 points in the last 3 years.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with individuals with Autism or challenging behaviors preferred.
