About the position
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role is focused on enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. The DSP assists, instructs, and supports residents in achieving greater independence while promoting their health, safety, and well-being. This position involves building meaningful relationships, advocating for residents' needs, and integrating them into community activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist and support individuals with developmental disabilities in daily living activities.
- Promote health, safety, and well-being of residents.
- Build positive and meaningful relationships with individuals.
- Advocate for residents to communicate their wants and needs.
- Integrate individuals into community recreational activities.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Help individuals plan and prepare nutritious meals.
- Administer medications as required.
- Participate in scheduled training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency's driving policy.
- Ability to perform all job functions.
