About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Gallagher Services involves providing essential support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a residential setting. The DSP is responsible for ensuring the well-being and dignity of individuals by assisting them with daily living activities, advocating for their rights, and promoting their independence within the community. This part-time position requires working overnight shifts on weekends, focusing on both physical and emotional support for the residents.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on assistance in the home including individualized support in transferring, bathing, and grooming.
• Assists with and teaches skills in laundry, meal preparation, and other household chores.
• Accompanies individuals to doctors' appointments, emergency room visits, and hospital visits, and contacts on-call nursing as needed.
• Administers medications according to policies and procedures of the Medication Technician Training Program/Certified Medication Technician (MTTP/CMT) curriculum.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Minimum of 2 years of driving experience with a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds and provide physical intervention as necessary.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Certified Medication Technician certification.
