About the position
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Nova Home Support involves providing essential support to an 18-year-old individual with developmental disabilities and serious mental health challenges. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, as the DSP will work variable shifts throughout the week, ensuring the individual receives the necessary assistance in both home and community settings. The DSP will be part of a dedicated team, overseen by Registered Behavior Technicians and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, focused on improving the individual's quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist the individual with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, and other self-help skills.
- Support the individual in managing challenging behaviors, including aggression and property destruction.
- Work collaboratively as part of a three-person team to provide comprehensive care.
- Implement techniques to safely manage behavioral challenges, following training provided by the company.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports regarding the individual's progress and needs.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with autism.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid California driver's license and clean driving record.
- Successful passage of a criminal background check.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to master and implement behavioral management techniques.
