About the position
The Direct Support Professional role involves providing essential support and teaching life skills to adults with intellectual disabilities. This position is available in both part-time and full-time capacities, offering flexible scheduling options. The ideal candidate will be energetic and dedicated to improving the lives of clients by helping them develop self-care skills and independence.
Responsibilities
- Teach clients simple everyday living skills and self-care tasks tailored to their individual needs.
- Provide support to adults with intellectual disabilities to help them transition to independent living.
- Assist clients in developing personal care routines and daily living skills.
- Maintain a positive and encouraging environment for clients.
- Document client progress and communicate effectively with team members.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Valid CPR certification is mandatory.
- Experience in teaching or providing support to individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Reliable transportation is required.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in Spanish, Farsi, or Mandarin is preferred.
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
