About the position
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at CARAFAP involves providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities, particularly those under the Autism Waiver and Developmental Disability Administration (DDA) services. DSPs play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for these individuals by assisting them with daily living activities, promoting independence, and fostering a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, including personal care, meal preparation, emotional regulation, and behavioral management.
- Implement individualized care plans and behavior support plans as outlined by supervisors and healthcare professionals.
- Foster a safe and nurturing environment for individuals with disabilities, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being at all times.
- Engage individuals in meaningful activities and community outings, promoting socialization and integration.
- Support individuals in developing life skills, such as communication, self-care, and household management.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided, progress notes, incident reports, and any other required paperwork.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, therapists, families, and case managers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in working with individuals with disabilities.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures governing the provision of services to individuals with disabilities.
- Provide advocacy and support to individuals with disabilities in accessing community resources and services.
Requirements
- Compassionate and dedicated individuals with a high school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Ability to pass a state and federal background check.
