About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Circle of Support plays a crucial role in assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead healthy, safe, and self-directed lives. This position involves providing support in daily living activities, fostering social interactions, and ensuring a clean and organized living environment. The DSP will work in a full-time capacity with block shifts, allowing for extended time off during the week.

Responsibilities

• Provide the client with structured daily routines for medications, meals, and other activities of daily living.
• Support daily hygiene needs, including assistance with showering, brushing teeth, and toileting.
• Foster the client's ability to engage in social interactions at home and in the community.
• Take the lead in keeping the client's home clean, organized, and safe.
• Document interactions with the client, noting any changes and progress toward individualized support goals.

Requirements

• Lots of energy, a sense of humor, kindness, clear boundaries, and a positive attitude about life.
• Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred.
• A high school diploma or equivalency.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record without major violations in the past year.
• Criminal background check.
• Ability to interact professionally with clients, families, staff, and service providers.
• Previous experience working with individuals with special care needs in home or community settings is desirable.
• Camphill community experience is desirable.
• Basic skills with computer, Google Suite, Microsoft, scanning, and SETWorks.

Nice-to-haves

• Medication Administration certification from ODP (preferred)
• CPR/First Aid certification (honored)
