About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Adventure Mental Health, LLC involves assisting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities in their daily living activities. The DSP will provide support in various settings, including the individual's home, and will focus on helping consumers achieve their fullest potential through skill-building activities and personal care. This part-time position requires flexibility in scheduling, particularly on weekends, and emphasizes compassionate care and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and guidance for consumers during skill-building activities.
• Develop and/or follow the individual's plan of care and treatment.
• Assist with daily living activities, including preparing meals and personal hygiene.
• Facilitate community inclusion and assist with job tasks and/or goals.
• Develop rapport and cultivate a safe and supportive environment.
• Complete daily paperwork and submit within company deadlines.
• Ensure an appropriate staff-to-client ratio at all times.
• Run errands or take individuals to doctor appointments and recreational activities.
• Perform light housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and medication reminders.
• Assist with grooming, toileting, bathing, and other personal care tasks.
• Support clients with educational games, projects, and activities.
• Participate in virtual meetings and complete assignments as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass background fingerprinting check, central registry, and drug test.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Compassionate about the care and well-being of others.
• Must have a reliable cell phone for communication and emergencies.
• Must have own vehicle, registered and insured, to transport clients.
• Physical capacity to meet participant needs.
• Completion of additional courses as required for the position.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with developmental disabilities (1 year preferred).
• Knowledge of virtual meeting platforms such as Google Meets, Zoom, etc.
• Completion of New Jersey State DHD DDD courses.
