About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Help at Home involves providing essential support services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in their homes and communities. This position is designed for compassionate individuals who enjoy one-on-one interactions and want to make a positive impact in the lives of others. DSPs are responsible for assisting clients in developing new skills, maintaining a safe environment, and achieving personal goals outlined in their Individual Support Plans (ISP).

Responsibilities

• Assists individuals in learning and developing new skills.
• Provides and maintains a safe environment for the consumers.
• Assists the consumer with attaining goals for positive outcomes as described in the individual's ISP.
• Utilizes positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques.
• Performs or assists the consumer with home maintenance activities as prescribed in the ISP.
• Completes accurate documentation of the services.
• Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED or completion of a state-approved training program.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
• Ability to perform tasks in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Maintains a professional attitude and demeanor and communicates effectively.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments and navigate physical barriers typical to private residences.
