About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at an Adult Family Home in Manitowoc County involves providing compassionate care to individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities. The DSP will work one-on-one with clients to assess their needs and foster a positive environment, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives. This part-time position includes responsibilities such as health monitoring, assisting with daily living activities, and promoting community integration skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Individual Service Plan (ISP) created for each specific individual.
• Perform health monitoring including medication administration.
• Complete daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal care, and light housekeeping.
• Assist in building community integration skills through recreational activities.
• Redirect any challenging behaviors if they occur.

Requirements

• Must pass a Wisconsin Caregiver background check.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug, and TB screen.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Demonstrated skill and/or potential in working with individuals with special needs in a supportive environment.
• Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain self-composure and self-control under stressful conditions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in senior care (1 year preferred).
• Valid Driver's License (preferred).
